Operating ledger

Spend the page before it burns.

Each entry covers a decision point: opening capital, exile timing, replacement effects, copied spells, protection, and the closing balance.

Ledger entry 01

Open the account

Keep two or three lands, one of the baseline rocks, and either early exile access or interaction. A two-mana rock supports turn-three Prosper without borrowing speed from Ancient Tomb, rituals, or a free-mana package.

Cards: Arcane Signet · Coldsteel Heart · Fellwar Stone · Prosper, Tome-Bound · Rakdos Signet · Talisman of Indulgence

Ledger entry 02

Respect the expiry

Exile is a timed second hand. Play an exiled land before spending mana on a spell when sequencing permits, and reserve colored sources for the least flexible card. Prosper pays only when a card is played from exile, not merely exiled.

Cards: Ignite the Future · Light Up the Stage · Party Thrasher · Prosper, Tome-Bound · Reckless Impulse · Wrenn's Resolve

Ledger entry 03

Compound the interest

For one Treasure event with Xorn and Academy Manufactor, apply Xorn first to make two Treasures, then Manufactor to make two of each token. Talent level two and Goldspan each grant a separate two-mana sacrifice ability, but one Treasure can pay for only one of them. Crime Novelist then adds one red mana, for three mana total per Treasure; it is explosive, not a loop.

Cards: Academy Manufactor · Alchemist's Talent · Crime Novelist · Goldspan Dragon · Xorn

Ledger entry 04

Post two cascades

Wild-Magic Sorcerer grants cascade to the first spell cast from exile each turn. Rain of Riches separately grants cascade to the first qualifying Treasure-funded spell. One spell can carry both triggers; every actual card cast from those cascades pays Prosper again.

Cards: Prosper, Tome-Bound · Rain of Riches · Wild-Magic Sorcerer

Ledger entry 05

Audit the copy

Improvisation Capstone's later paradigm cast is a copy from exile, not a card, so it does not trigger Prosper. It still triggers Nico, Passionate Archaeologist, and Wild-Magic Sorcerer; the real cards Capstone exiles and casts do trigger Prosper.

Cards: Improvisation Capstone · Nico Minoru, Runaway · Passionate Archaeologist · Prosper, Tome-Bound · Wild-Magic Sorcerer

Ledger entry 06

Protect the principal

Boots gives Prosper haste and hexproof, so Malakir Rebirth can still target him; shroud would not allow that. Plaza protects a legendary creature from targeting and destruction, but cannot answer exile, sacrifice, or toughness reduction.

Cards: Deflecting Swat · Malakir Rebirth // Malakir Mire · Plaza of Heroes · Swiftfoot Boots

Ledger entry 07

Close the books

Convert visible value through Shadow, Mirkwood Bats, Marionette Master, Mayhem Devil, Smaug, or a large Delayed Blast Fireball. These are resource-driven closing turns around seven or eight, not a concealed compact win.

Cards: Delayed Blast Fireball · Marionette Master · Mayhem Devil · Mirkwood Bats · Shadow of the Goblin · Smaug the Magnificent
