Trigger atlas

Track the current Omnath, not the turn.

Use this pocket counter when a fetch, trigger doubler, or blink makes the stack hard to read. It models one Omnath object's resolutions; blinking begins a fresh object at step one.

1

Gain 4 life

The next landfall resolution from this Omnath is the life mode.

  1. 1 Gain 4 life
  2. 2 Add RGWU
  3. 3 Deal 4 to opponents and their planeswalkers
  4. 4+ No effect from this object

Field notes

Make every land arrive on purpose.

Field note

Keep a route to all four colors

Prefer three lands with green and access to at least two other colors plus cheap development. A fetchland paired with a fetchable dual or triome can anchor the route. Two-land hands need Birds, Halfling, Arcane Signet, Farseek, Nature's Lore, Three Visits, Sakura-Tribe Elder, or dependable card access; payoff-heavy hands without fixing go back. The selected list has 41 lands, but land count alone does not guarantee four colors.

Cards: Arcane Signet · Farseek · Sylvan Library · Oracle of Mul Daya

Field note

Cast Omnath before spending the land

The valuable sequence is Omnath on turn three or four with a land drop still available. A fetchland then supplies the first landfall resolution for four life and the second for RGWU. Spend that refund on another land window, a blink, or interaction instead of letting the colored mana vanish.

Cards: Omnath, Locus of Creation · Spelunking · Entish Restoration · Ephemerate

Field note

Count resolutions, not lands

Each Omnath object advances through gain four, add RGWU, then four damage to each opponent and opposing planeswalker; later resolutions from that same object do nothing. Ancient Greenwarden, Traveling Chocobo, and Starfield Vocalist add triggers, so one land can advance multiple steps rather than repeat one mode.

Cards: Ancient Greenwarden · Traveling Chocobo · Starfield Vocalist

Field note

Reset only after using the damage step

An active-turn blink returns Omnath as a new object, draws a card, and begins a fresh sequence. When the aim is another damage sequence, let the original Omnath's third trigger resolve before blinking. Ghostly Flicker can return Omnath and a land together, immediately restarting landfall. Protection may justify blinking earlier; phasing with Galadriel's Dismissal preserves the same object and does not redraw or reset Omnath.

Field note

Treat fetchlands as a reusable route

Life from the Loam, Mole Man, Moloid Master, Icetill Explorer, Ancient Greenwarden, and Splendid Reclamation turn the graveyard into land access. Sevinne's Reclamation also recovers cheap engines, Sylvan Library, or Field of the Dead. Spelunking makes returning lands immediately usable; hold a large recovery spell until those lands create a real board or closing turn.

Cards: Mole Man, Moloid Master · Sevinne's Reclamation · Spelunking · Splendid Reclamation

Field note

Make the Scapeshift turn visible

At a developed land count, Scapeshift can seed Field of the Dead, enable Valakut through Dryad, or load a graveyard for Splendid Reclamation. Count Omnath resolutions before sacrificing lands, identify whether the line makes an answerable token board or direct damage, and leave the table a clear response window.

Cards: Scapeshift · Field of the Dead · Dryad of the Ilysian Grove · Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle

Field note

Order the end step around a warped Vocalist

Starfield Vocalist doubles landfall and Omnath's entry draw. If it was cast for warp, place The Mind Stone's optional blink trigger so Vocalist returns first; the new object is not exiled by the old delayed trigger. The Stone's end-step blink usually redraws through Omnath but does not create another main-phase landfall window.

Cards: Starfield Vocalist · The Mind Stone · Omnath, Locus of Creation

Field note

Use four colors without becoming draw-go

Keep Swan Song, Dovin's Veto, Mana Drain, or Arcane Denial for the spell that stops the engine or ends the game. Heroic Intervention protects against destruction; kicked Galadriel's Dismissal phases out your creatures and tokens through exile wipes without retriggering their entry abilities. Blasphemous Act resets a creature board when you fall behind. Hold Boseiju or Otawara in hand when their channel ability is needed: Crop Rotation puts a land directly onto the battlefield.

Cards: Arcane Denial · Galadriel's Dismissal · Heroic Intervention · Blasphemous Act

Field note

Turn the established board into a finish

Field of the Dead, Scute Swarm, Felidar Retreat, and Titania build the creatures that make Craterhoof Behemoth decisive. Count blockers and trample damage before committing eight mana: Craterhoof gives haste only to itself, so newly created tokens usually need another turn. Tannuk adds landfall draw and table damage while the board develops.

Cards: Titania, Protector of Argoth · Craterhoof Behemoth · Tannuk, Memorial Ensign

Field note

Disclose the many-piece late-game line

With Eternal Witness, Lotus Cobra, Traveling Chocobo, and an untapped mana-producing land on the battlefield, Ghostly Flicker can return Witness and that land. Witness retrieves Flicker; the doubled Cobra triggers and retapping the land pay for the next cast. Field of the Dead with seven differently named lands, Scute Swarm, or Felidar Retreat converts repeated landfall into arbitrarily many tokens. Those tokens normally need a later combat. Creature removal, a counterspell, or graveyard interaction can break the engine. This is an accepted late-game route, not a line to tutor for an early win.
