Root → trunk → canopy

Let the board tell you when to climb.

The sequencing guide moves from a resilient keep to a declared combat finish. Each stop names the cards that do the actual work.

Canopy protocol 01

Root the opening

Keep two or three land-capable cards, a one-mana Elf, and either shelter or repeatable card flow. A one-land hand whose entire future is a removable mana creature is a mulligan, even when it looks explosive.

Cards: Arbor Elf · Elvish Mystic · Fyndhorn Elves · Joraga Treespeaker · Sol Ring

Canopy protocol 02

Grow the trunk

Cast Marwyn on turn two or three only when the table cannot trade efficiently for her. Otherwise develop a second mana body or draw engine first; every later Elf then becomes both board presence and another ring of mana.

Cards: Marwyn, the Nurturer · Dionus, Elvish Archdruid · Quirion Ranger · Scryb Ranger · Wirewood Symbiote

Canopy protocol 03

Widen the canopy

Build breadth before advertising a finisher. Warmaster and Huntmaster reward casting Elves; Dwynen's Elite and Elven Ambush add bodies; Growing Rites turns that visible board into finite, enormous mana.

Cards: Dwynen's Elite · Elven Ambush · Elvish Warmaster · Growing Rites of Itlimoc · Imperious Perfect · Lys Alana Huntmaster

Canopy protocol 04

Keep the sap moving

Deploy one card-flow engine before emptying the hand, then layer a second only if removal is unlikely. Skullclamp turns expendable bodies into a refill; Return of the Wildspeaker and Shamanic Revelation are recovery valves, not opening plays.

Cards: Beast Whisperer · Guardian Project · Leaf-Crowned Visionary · Return of the Wildspeaker · Shamanic Revelation · Skullclamp

Canopy protocol 05

Weather the cut

Hold instant shelter for the wipe or removal spell that actually breaks the engine. Caller of the Claw must arrive after nontoken creatures die that turn; Endurance and Loaming Shaman are best saved for a live recursion window rather than spent as ordinary bodies.

Cards: Caller of the Claw · Endurance · Heroic Intervention · Loaming Shaman · Selfless Safewright · Veil of Summer

Canopy protocol 06

Choose the sunlight

This list closes through visible combat, not a compact infinite. Natural Order for Craterhoof is the sharpest line; otherwise convert a wide board with Ezuri, Tyvar, Warcaller, Shepherd, or forestwalk. Count blockers and protection before committing the whole canopy.

Cards: Allosaurus Shepherd · Craterhoof Behemoth · Elvish Champion · Ezuri, Renegade Leader · Joraga Warcaller · Natural Order · Tyvar, the Pummeler
