Azlask, the Swelling Scourge · upper Bracket 3

The end arrives
very small.

Make Spawn. Make Scions. Spend some as mana, let some die for experience, then turn every remaining little nightmare into an indestructible annihilator.

The brood cycle

Four steps. Countless feet.

01

Open a rift

Keep two to four lands with early fixing. Green finds the premium duals; painlands preserve true colorless for the Eldrazi spells.

02

Hatch the small ones

Deploy cheap bodies and repeatable engines before committing a doubler. Every Spawn is mana, pressure, or future experience.

03

Choose who survives

Hold Clever Concealment, Teferi’s Protection, or Heroic Intervention when the board has become worth saving.

04

Pay WUBRG

Activate Azlask only when the attack matters. Experience becomes power; the smallest bodies arrive with annihilator and indestructible.

Brood registry

Know exactly
what hatches.

Twenty cards in the selected list create Spawn or Scions directly. Some drip-feed bodies, some arrive as one violent clutch, and some leave a little friend behind when they die. Filter the registry, then hover or focus any maker for its full card.

Spawn0/1 Eldrazi

Sacrifice it for one colorless mana. Usually mana first, attacker later.

Scion1/1 Eldrazi

Also sacrifices for one colorless mana, but begins with a point of power.

TimingCast beats ETB

Cast-trigger broods still hatch if the creature spell itself is countered. ETB makers must resolve.

AmplifiersDouble creation

Mondrak and Parallel Lives double tokens, but are amplifiers—not makers on an empty board.

Interactive brood

Every tiny body
has three possible lives.

A Spawn or Scion can become mana, become experience when sacrificed, or survive long enough to attack. Toggle Azlask to see the core engines ready for the final conversion.

How big are the little guys?

Estimate an unblocked Azlask attack. The number below is combat damage; the readout separately tracks annihilator sacrifices. It intentionally ignores printed power above 1 and incidental counters.

Know the conversion

Mana, experience, or teeth?

Mana now

Sacrifice the fewest little bodies needed to advance the board. Cryptolith Rite and Path of Annihilation let the rest tap for mana and survive.

Experience later

Azlask rewards sacrifice even outside combat. Skullclamp, Smothering Abomination, and Mirkwood Bats make those deaths do extra work.

Shelter the engine

Clever Concealment covers exile and bounce. Heroic Intervention and Eldrazi Monument cover destruction. Teferi’s Protection handles almost everything.

Finish, do not loop

Glaring Fleshraker, Molten Gatekeeper, Mirkwood Bats, and Spawn-Gang Commander deal finite pressure. There is no compact deterministic combo.
